Assad visits Front Lines for New Year as Counter-Terrorism Operations Continue

The Syrian Arab Army and Syrian Civil Defense Forces continue anti-terrorism operations throughout the country. On New Year’s Evening, President al-Assad visited front-line-positions in the Jobar suburb of the capital Damascus, praised the combat troops and stressed that the Syrian people gain their morale from the sacrifices of the troops who defend the country and from their families.

Forces of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Civil Defense Forces, over the past two days, carried out operations in the Damascus countryside, and the provinces of Idleb, Daraa, Homs, Hasaka and Lattakia, reports the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA. A field reporter for the news agency reported that the SAA and Civil Defense Forces carried out operations near the Harasta court building and the entrance to Misraba in the countryside of the capital Damascus. Heavy clashes are also taking place in the Damascus suburb of Jobar, from where the SAA and the government evacuated a large number of families before new year.
